By law, bourbon must be aged in new, charred oak barrels. After the golden liquid is removed, the barrels are sold and reused to make rum, tequila, Scotch, and Irish whiskey. Furthermore, as you will discover from the following infographic, bourbon barrels are also used to make a variety of other things that can only be improved by aging in bourbon barrels.
