Recipe: Bourbon Sour

3 Comments 01 July 2010

A Bourbon Sour is a variation on the classic Whiskey Sour. The difference between the two is you use bourbon instead of cheap blended whiskey, which results in a smokier more flavorful cocktail.

Here’s how to make a Bourbon Sour

  • 2 oz. Bourbon
  • 1 oz. syrup
  • 1 oz. lemon juice
  • 1 maraschino cherry (optional garnish)
  • 1 slice of lemon or orange (optional garnish)
  • Ice
  • Rocks glass

  1. Fill the rocks glass with ice
  2. Put the bourbon in the glass
  3. Add the lemon juice
  4. Add the syrup
  5. Stir the mixture to combine ingredients. Alternately you can combine the ingredients in a shaker and shake them instead of stirring
  6. Garnish by adding a maraschino cherry and by placing a lemon or orange slice on the rim of the glass
  7. Serve immediately.
