Griffin & Zino Classic Cigar Event

1 Comment 01 July 2010

Yesterday evening I attended a cigar event at Smoke Ring Cigars in Sugar Land, Texas. The event was a Griffin & Zino Classic Cigars event. The host Gerry Alvarez, owner of Smoke Ring Cigars, really knows how to throw a great party. The next time you’re in Sugar Land stop by the shop and sign up to get on his list for the next event. Good people, great party, outstanding food, excellent cigars.

The Cigars

Have you tried either the Griffins or any of the Zino Classic cigars? If not, you should. They’re really worth the experience. The Zino Classic cigar is really an amazing cigar. It’s a cigar I love to smoke on a regular basis. If I can get my hands on it, I’ll smoke a Zino Classic Double Corona everyday. If you’re a cigar aficionado I’d challenge you to smoke it blind (without the band) and I’m certain you would think it was a far more expensive cigar than it is. If you’re a novice cigar smoker, I challenge you to try it. It may soon become your favorite cigar, too.

Last evening I enjoyed three cigars in this order:

1. Zino Classic Double Corona (Size: 7 1/2” x 52)
2. Zino Classic #8 Tubo (Size: 6 7/8” x 48)
3. Griffins Classic Prestige (Size: 7 1/2” x 50)

The Booze

Of course we also drank some booze with these great cigars. My friends and I enjoyed two bottles of whiskey with our cigars. First we consumed a 750 ml bottle of Gentleman Jack; followed by most of a 750 ml of Russell’s Reserve 10-Year-Old Bourbon.

A good time was had by all!

Cigar Descriptions

Zino Classic Cigars
Blended by Henke Kelner, the Zino Classic uses the finest Honduran Jamastran tobaccos for their earthiness, further enriched by select Dominican and other Central American tobaccos, while maintaining a true Honduran flavor. The smoke is rich, balanced, toasty, and laced with spicy notes, plus there’s that sweet Davidoff aroma. Designed to satisfy smokers at every level of experience, these fine luxury cigars offer a wide choice of sizes and are reasonably priced in their class.

Griffins Classic Cigars
Griffins cigars are undoubtedly one of the highest in overall quality among the up-market Dominican cigars. An harmonious blend of three distinct Cibao Valley-grown, aged tobaccos and a superior Dominican binder are meticulously hand-rolled and finished in a lush U.S. Connecticut shade-grown wrapper, with some sizes sporting a luscious Maduro wrapper. Exquisitely rich, yet mild, and perfectly-balanced with subtle traces of nuts and cedar on the finish, Griffins cigars are geared for the true aficionado.
